Ramadan death toll round-up, Tue 31st July, 2012

(Sudan)  Reports are coming in that the peaceful Islamic government of Sudan, wanting to share the spirit of Ramadan with non-Muslims, sent in its airforce to conduct a fireworks display. Unfortunately, due to a lack of fireworks, real bombs had to be used, and so 3 people were killed and 21 injured.

(Pakistan) It appears that a similar honest mistake transpired in Pakistan when peaceful Islamic terrorist, wanting to share Ramadan with their opposite number in the Pakistani army, found to their horror that the machine-gun show they put on used real bullets and not blanks as they presumed. 2 soldiers were shot dead in this dreadful accident.

(Nigeria) A policeman was shot dead in north-eastern (Islamic) Nigeria after he shot two of his fellow policemen during an argument.

(Yemen) A gunfight outside the interior ministry in Sana on Tuesday between security forces and gunmen dressed as police saw 15 people killed and 43 wounded.

(Sudan) Protests against the government in Darfur against high transport prices saw 6 people shot dead. The police who reacted to the protests by initially firing tear gas are at a loss how these protesting people died.
Bothina Mohmed Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the state of South Darfur, said it was not known how the six deaths had happened, and that an investigation had been launched.
Opposition activists and media accused the police of using live ammunition.

Ramadan death count moves up to 1,302.
